[MoL] MOL constitution

Dear MOL member,

I'd like to remind you that at the upcoming MOL meeting in Bielefeld, we 
plan to decide on a constitution for our association. A draft can be 
found at http://www.molweb.org/constitution.html.

When we discussed the issue on the list last year, we kept two issues open:

- In the past, the term of the outgoing president ended at the biennial 
meeting, and the new president was the only MOL officers until the next 
elections. ACL requires their special interest groups to have two 
officers at any time. To comply with this request, one proposal is to 
let the outgoing president serve as "vice president/former president" 
until the next elections. The other option is to just ignore the ACL 
regulation and keep things as they were in the past.

- Should the elections take place within (a) six months or (b) one year 
after the biennial meeting? In the past, elections usually took place at 
some point during the even-numbered years.

If you cannot attend the Bielefeld meeting but you have certain 
preferences regarding these points, please send your thoughts to the 
list or to me. I think it should be easy to reach a consensus on both 
issues at the business meeting in two weeks.
